1.90-m (6.2-ft) pickup (1.79-m [5.9-ft] DIN)
The F440E and F450E can have two different pickup settings:
- A narrow 1.50-m (4.9-ft) model (1.38-m [4.5-ft] DIN) without converging augers, designed for small windrows. The pickup is hydraulically raised from the cab as standard equipment.
- A wide 1.90-m (6.2-ft) pickup (1.79-m [5.8-ft] DIN) designed to fit larger farm needs. The two converging augers feed the bale chamber and provide quality bale shape. This pickup is also hydraulically raised from the cab.
The F400E Series pickup is made of galvanized strippers for extended lifespan and four tine bars for high-capacity picking.
Adjustable cam track design offers hard-to-beat versatility

Cam track design avoids plugging

Tine position adjustment
Tine position adjustment
The F400E Series pickup offers full versatility by using cam track technology to provide a better solution for operators. The traditional stripper design provides reduced space between the pickup tines and rotor feeder, while the tine motion helps to avoids pinching. The camless technology requires long strippers, creating a dead-zone between the tines and rotor. Additionally, fixed tines can easily pinch crops in sticky conditions, causing plugs.
The F400E Series offers even more versatility due to the adjustable tine position. The operator can turn the pickup cam to improve feeding efficiency for straw or wet crops:
- By moving the tines closer to the forks (position A of image), the fork feeding is improved in dry conditions.
- By moving the tines away from the forks (position B of image), the pickup capacity is increased in wet or sticky conditions.
Pneumatic gauge wheels provide efficient ground following

Gauge wheel settings
The F400E Series is base equipped with gauge wheels, no matter the pickup width choice. In order to create a height that provides quality picking, a simple plate offers up to seven positions.
The F400E Series is only available with fixed pneumatic gauge wheels that offer:
- A smoothness that steel gauge wheels do not provide
- Efficient ground following
- High-resistance to backward motion
Pickup rake fits all windrow heights

Easy height settings

Easy height settings
No matter the pickup width, the F400E Series is equipped with a windrow rake that provides regular and continuous feeding through the chamber. By removing one pin, the rake can be easily adjusted to four positions to match the windrow dimensions.
Fork feeding system offers high-capacity with dry crops

Pickup overload safety

Overall feeding system safety
The F400E Series Balers provide two safety features that help prevent damage to the baler due to plugging or feeding system overload:
- The pickup safety shear bolt only stops the pickup rotation. The fork feeder and bale chamber are still powered. This safety is activated in case of overload located on only the pickup.
- The fork feeder safety shear bolt clutches the fork feeder and pickup motion, only allowing the bale chamber to move. This safety is activated in case of overload on the forks or when the operator is continuing to feed the chamber for a long-time after the maximum density has been reached.
For enhanced simplicity, fork feeder and pickup use the same shear bolt references.
